The Fat Disorders Research Society, Inc. is a newly-formed 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization incorporated in the State of Wisconsin. Our tax ID number is 26-4545388. 
The Fat Disorders Research Society, Inc. is dedicated to spreading awareness and raising funds for research of Dercum’s Disease and the other rare disorders related to abnormal distribution of fat.
“The Fat Disorders Research Society, Inc. exists to educate the medical community and general public so they may learn and accept that “it’s not only food that makes you fat”.
Many patients with fat disorders have gone undiagnosed for years, only to be told to lose weight, exercise, and/or seek psychological help therefore being denied medical care so desperately needed.
Our goal is that one day medical professionals will readily recognize the symptoms of Dercum’s Disease, Madelung’s Disease, Lipedema, and Familial Multiple Lipomatosis, as well as the other fat disorders.
Fat disorders research is currently inadequate and grossly underfunded. The Fat Disorders Research Society, Inc. will be exploring all options to remedy this lack of funding.
